Bay View Cottage > Activities round and about
Located at the very western tip of the Llyn Peninsula the cottage gives access to a wide variety of holiday activities. Locally there are many walks to suit all ages and abilities. Do go up to the rocks behind the cottage, the highest part is 1000ft above sea level and from here on a clear day you can see over 50 mls to Strumble Head in the south and to the west 60 mls to the Wicklow Hills, to the east Snowdon can also be spotted. Sugar Loaf south of Dublin can easily be spotted with binoculars.
A favourite short walk is to leave by the cottage’s front gate and turn right to
join the Llyn Coastal Path. The steep descent by the side of the wall passes
‘Pant’ a N.T. cottage and shortly meets ‘Syntir’ another N.T. cottage. Turn
right and follow the path around the headland for about 1ml. At the style turn
right and follow the lane upwards past several cottages for about half a mile.
Wonderful views towards Bardsey Island and when its clear Ireland. At the
converted chapel Tan y Foel turn right again and up the track, over two styles
and back to the other side of the mountain. As you return to Bay View a
wonderful vista of Snowdonia, Cardigan Bay And Hell’s Mouth Bay will slowly
unfold before you. 45mins of breathtaking views makes this one of the best short
walks in Wales and all from the cottage garden.

There is also a variety of beaches within a short drive. These include Hell’s Mouth (1ml) surfing with 3mls of sands and Porth Ysgo (2ml) wild, remote, approached by 200 steps so is never crowded.
Aberdaron (4ml) is a picturesque seaside village with superb sandy beach, 2 pubs(one with beach terrace), cafes, Spar and Post Office.
Other local attractions include Plas yn Rhiw(1ml), a National Trust property. Abersoch(8ml) with its multitude of boats and people, the market town of Pwllheli(10ml) (trips to Bardsey Island can be taken here), Ffestiniog Steam Railway at Porthmadog (20ml) and Portmerion(25ml) Model Italian Village and Pottery.

Golf courses abound, the nearest being Abersoch, the best being Nefyn(10ml) and the cheapest Criccieth(15ml).
